Project:

Full restoration

SERVICES

Full Kailis Marine maintenance services were utilised however major refit works were required including:

  • Boat lifting
  • Several cranes
  • Boilermaking
  • Fitting and machining
  • Electrical
  • Blasting and painting

WHAT WE DID

The Shark was due for a routine inspection of the shaft and required a paint job.

During the inspection, severe corrosion was found in the hull plate and water tanks. Kailis Marine conducted a full NDT (Non-Disruptive Testing) inspection of the hull where significant corrosion and other major issues were uncovered.

The client was consulted and involved in the decision making. Kailis Marine provided options to address the issues and presented budgets for evaluation. The client was also involved in the project on a day to day basis as the Kailis Marine team worked through the increased scope of works.

Scope of works included taking the vessel out of the water, removing the engine and gear boxes with major repairs required due to the severe corrosion issues. The vessel also required wiring works in tandem with the removal of jet sets. Safety was paramount at all times.

We worked collaboratively throughout the project with the client on a vessel that had an unknown history and standard.

End Result

The vessel was fully restored to defence operational standards and is in operations at a higher standard of reliability and safety.
