General Manager – Marine Services
Terry joined MG Kailis in 1972 as an Apprentice Diesel Fitter. He has since held the positions of Tradesman, Leading Hand, Foreman, Chief Engineer, General Manager – Engineering and now GM – Marine Services.
Terry has been involved in the design and build of over 120 vessels including lobster, prawn trawlers, scallop, tuna and pearling vessels. He has managed the refits of up to 75 vessels for the MG Kailis Group fleet (with the majority completed in Fremantle and Darwin).
Over the years, Terry has refitted over 1,000 vessels, designed pearling vessels and machinery, secured and purchased most of the MG Kailis Group vessels and instigated several initiatives including the progressive rebuilding and upgrading of the MG Kailis Group fleet and the use of synthetic lubricants to remove the need for oil changes during the year.
Today as GM – Marine Services, Terry’s responsibilities include the management of cross industry contracts, marine design and technology, marine asset sales, financial and new business set up and after sales client liaison.
Terry is a highly experienced and respected member of the marine engineering community. He resides on several committees including the Ministerial Maritime Facilities Advisory Committee (10+ years), Fremantle Maritime Facilities Advisory Committee (30+ years), Australian Ship Repairers Group (15+ years), Industry Advisory Committee for the National Maritime Safety Committee, Intact Stability Review Committee for the National Maritime Safety Committee and previously the Superyacht Base WA Committee.
Terry’s qualifications include a Certificate IV in Frontline Management, Strategic Thinking and Planning, Occupational Health Training for Supervisors and Managers and the completion of a Diesel Fitter Apprenticeship.
